The Challenge: Consolidating Disposal Methods Across Multiple Sites
With operations spanning across the UK, GAC faced difficulties in managing the disposal of used workwear and uniform in a consistent and secure manner. Before working with Avena, the company used varying disposal methods, leading to inefficiencies and concerns about security. GAC UK needed a national solution that provided both secure destruction and diversion from landfill.
The Solution: Avena’s Tailored SECUREBRAND® Service
Avena provided the perfect solution through its SECUREBRAND® service, which is designed to securely destroy branded uniforms and workwear while ensuring a zero to landfill solution. Avena’s security-vetted personnel collect garments from GAC UK’s sites and transport them in unmarked vehicles fitted with CCTV and GPS tracking. Upon arrival at Avena’s secure facility, the items are processed and destroyed in accordance with Avena’s rigorous and sustainable resource management process.
Avena’s zero-waste-to-landfill policy ensures that 100% of GAC UK’s textile waste is diverted from landfill and processed sustainably, which aligns with the company’s sustainability goals.
The Result: Achieving Sustainability Goals and Enhancing Security
Since implementing Avena’s service, GAC UK has sustainably disposed of over 540kg of textiles, contributing to their goal of waste reduction and carbon footprint minimisation. Avena has provided GAC UK with detailed reports on the environmental impact of their secure destruction efforts, offering transparent data to support their sustainability objectives. The implementation of secure collection points at each site has also provided GAC UK with peace of mind, knowing that their branded uniforms and workwear are being handled securely.
