Confidential and Secure Waste Disposal & Shredding Services in and around Birmingham

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) obliges all businesses to protect personal data from breaches of privacy. As part of the compliance process, all documents, disks, USB flash drives, hard drives and other storage devices containing such information must be destroyed when they are no longer required.

Secure GDPR-compliant document shredding

We provide safe, traceable confidential waste destruction services to businesses across Birmingham. These are fully compliant with the BSEN:15713-2009 code of practice relating to the destruction of confidential material.

While this service is chiefly designed for paper documents, we can also allow small quantities of disks (CDs/DVDs) and flash drives within the waste paper.

On-site shredding

For customers who choose to witness document destruction, we offer a mobile, on-site shredding service. All confidential waste is carried from a secure area within the customer’s building to our shredding unit, either by our BS7858 security vetted, DBS checked customer service representatives (CSR) or by the customer’s own personnel (if requested) and destroyed immediately on site. The customer can witness the entire process and will be handed a certificate of destruction as soon as it is complete.

Secure off-site shredding service

Our off-site shredding service fully protects the security of your data while on your premises, in transit and during the destruction process.

Once confidential documents have been placed in one of our Securall® lockable consoles, they can only be accessed by our keyholding CSR.

When the console is full, you simply scan a QR code on the console with a smartphone app, which alerts our office that the console is ready for emptying.

One of our CSR team will empty the console and return it to our shredding depot. To ensure in-transit security, all our vans are unmarked (to prevent alerting the public about their confidential cargo) and are fitted with CCTV and real-time satellite tracking.

All staff employed at our depot are BS7858 security vetted and the premises are protected 24/7 with CCTV security cameras.

A certificate of destruction is then issued so you can maintain accurate records for GDPR compliance auditing.

Confidential shredding for remote workers

The trend towards working from home (WFH) brought about by the coronavirus pandemic has created a need for document security away from the office that still meets the demands of GDPR.

Our innovative, patent-pending RemoteShred system guarantees this.

Personnel working remotely are supplied with a single-use cardboard console where they can dispose of confidential waste. When the console is full, it is secured with a tamper-evident tape seal and the user scans a QR code on the console to request a collection.

The console is collected by one of our CSR team and returned to our depot where the entire sealed console and its contents are shredded and a certificate of destruction is sent to your office.

Textile destruction and recycling

Why are garments regarded as confidential waste? Why are they shredded after use rather than donated to charity?

  • Impersonation of emergency and security personnel is a very real problem that can have serious consequences for authorities and the public.
  • Impersonation can also be a problem for companies where a uniform can be a passport for access to restricted areas or used to dupe unsuspecting members of the public into allowing criminals into their homes.
  • Destruction of surplus and substandard branded clothing can protect a brand’s image and value.

Companies committed to environmentally responsible practices also want to recycle as much as possible. As an ISO 14001 certified company, we use the fibres extracted from this process to make new products such as acoustic office screen panels.

IT and other office hardware recycling

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling (WEEE) regulations cover the disposal and recycling of electrical and electronic goods. Responsible processing reduces the amount of material going to landfill – particularly lithium, mercury and other heavy metals which are hazardous to the environment – and allow valuable commodities to be recycled rather than depleting natural resources.

We offer compliant disposal of all redundant electrical and electronic office equipment, including:

  • Computers and laptops
  • Laser and inkjet printers
  • Servers
  • Network switches, hubs, routers and firewalls
  • Other miscellaneous IT equipment

If this equipment features any data storage capacity such as the hard drive on a computer or laptop, we ensure these components are destroyed to GDPR required standards.
