Confidential Waste Disposal & Shredding Services in Manchester

Secure disposal – and where appropriate – recycling of documents, garments and office equipment has become an essential part of fulfilling the legal obligations imposed on businesses authorities, particularly within the education, finance, healthcare, legal and public sectors

Secure GDPR-compliant document shredding

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) all businesses handling personal data must ensure this information is protected.

When no longer required, all documents, disks, USB flash drives, hard drives and other storage devices containing such information must be destroyed.

We provide secure, documented confidential waste destruction services, fully compliant with the BSEN:15713-2009 Code of Practice relating to the confidential destruction of paper documents containing personal data, across the entire Greater Manchester area. While this is predominantly designed for paper documents, we can also accommodate small amounts of disks and flash drives within the waste paper.

Secure off-site shredding service

Our off-site shredding service fully protects the security of your data while on your premises, in transit and during the destruction process.

Our Securall® lockable consoles are designed to prohibit the removal of contents once they have been fed into the console, and to which only our customer service team have keyed access.

When the console is full, you simply scan a QR code on the console to alert us a collection is required, and we do the rest.

The contents are removed by one of our BS7858 security vetted, DBS checked customer service representatives and securely transported via one of our own fleet vans to our shredding depot.

To ensure security we don’t sign-write our vans so the public are unaware of the confidential nature of their contents, and they are all fitted with CCTV cameras and real-time satellite tracking.

When it arrives at our CCTV-protected shredding depot, your confidential waste is handled exclusively by our security-vetted staff and destroyed in accordance with GDPR requirements, and a certificate of destruction will be sent to you for your records.

On-site shredding

We also offer a mobile, on-site shredding service for customers who prefer to witness document destruction. Customers can either personally carry confidential waste to the shredding unit or witness our personnel doing this, then observe the destruction process. A certificate of destruction for that consignment will be issued immediately before we leave the premises.

Document destruction for working from home (WFH)

Working from home has become more widely practised due to coronavirus restrictions and to ensure our customers remain GDPR compliant in this situation we have introduced our patent-pending RemoteShred system.

This uses disposable consoles with a tamper-evident self-adhesive seal to protect the contents when it is full. By scanning a QR code with a smartphone app, the user notifies us that the console is ready to be collected from their private address.

When it is brought back to our shredding facility the entire sealed console is destroyed without access to the contents. A certificate of destruction is then sent to your office for you to keep on record pending audit.

WEEE and environmental compliance

Responsible disposal and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment reduces the amount of material going to landfill – particularly lithium, mercury and other heavy metals which are hazardous to the environment – and allows valuable commodities to be recycled rather than depleting natural resources.

All businesses have a duty of care to dispose of such items correctly under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling (WEEE) regulations.

We offer compliant disposal and recycling of all redundant electrical and electronic office equipment, including:

  • Computers and laptops
  • Laser and inkjet printers
  • Servers
  • Network switches, hubs, routers and firewalls
  • Other miscellaneous IT equipment

Some electronic equipment will also contain data storage components such as hard drives. When this is the case, we securely destroy the relevant parts to protect your data.

We also securely destroy external data storage devices such as flash drives, CDs and DVDs.

Textile destruction and recycling

There are many reasons why companies in the Manchester area use our textile destruction service. in the fashion industry, professional destruction of substandard and overstock lines is vital to maintaining brand value and preventing these goods from falling into the hands of rogue traders.

Public security is another factor, with Impersonation of emergency and security personnel being a very real problem that can have serious consequences for authorities and the public.

Impersonation can also be a problem for companies where a uniform can be a passport for access to restricted areas or used to dupe unsuspecting members of the public into allowing criminals into their homes.

Recycling fabric-based products also benefits the environment. Whereas natural fibres easily decompose under the right conditions, manmade fabrics are more resistant, but we can extend the life of these products by using the recycled fibres to make new products such as acoustic office screen panels and stuffing for furniture and car seats.
